Ziff Media Group is looking for an experienced and data-driven Email Marketing Director to help expand our editorial and commerce newsletters. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Audience Growth and Analytics, you will play a key part in the end-to-end planning and execution of high volume email campaigns, including scheduling, deployment, analysis of performance, optimization and management of technical projects.

 The ideal candidate will be experienced in the email marketing space and demonstrate the ability to manage an email marketing program with a keen eye for detail and delivering clear and concise messages to users in a way that drives engagement and revenue growth.  The right candidate will be able to come up with creative ideas and dig into the details/data to drive results. Additionally, you’ll help design processes to measure and improve our email performance and user engagement.  You will be responsible for optimizing and scaling a world class email program, delivering highly-targeted, automated and personalized messages.


  • Own the editorial email calendar across Ziff Davis online properties and coordinate with Content, Merchandising and Production teams for maximizing traffic drivers and potential revenue generators
  • Work on optimizing subscriber acquisition campaigns – including on-site campaigns, management of sweepstakes and paid marketing
  • Measure and manage the growth of the email channel against challenging subscription and revenue goals
  • Develop robust A/B and MVT testing programs to optimize engagement and revenue employing a rigorous test, measure and iterate approach to drive continuous improvement
  • Drive the creation and implementation of new automated email programs
  • Formulate strategic email initiatives needed to drive the customer lifecycle
  • Perform regular list hygiene to maintain the general health of our database
  • Report on progress against goals and relevant email metrics to senior management
  • Perform analyses on email performance and communicate key takeaways, actionable insights, and growth recommendations
  • Implement list segmentation strategies for targeted email campaigns
  • Work closely with the merchandising teams in the creation and implementation of email campaigns and facilitating the growth of new ideas and mail streams
  • Manage newsletter and commerce email production, QA and deployment for multiple company brands
  • Create innovative email products based upon user demand and industry trends


  • 5+ years in Email Marketing, eCommerce, Affiliate Marketing, Content Marketing or Customer Relationship Management, 2+ years’ experience managing a team
  • Proven ability to manage a digital marketing program end-to-end
  • Experience with deliverability, inboxing, IP warming, and monitoring
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to convey recaps and plans to senior stakeholders
  • Excellent time-management skills, organization and project management skills
  • Experience with writing and copyediting
  • Experience with enterprise level email platforms, such as: Lyris, Zeta, SendGrid, ExactTarget, YesMail, Cheetah Mail, Strong Mail, Bronto or similar
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills - ability to use data to develop, measure and optimize marketing programs
  • A thorough understanding of direct marketing principles
  • Strategic thinker, can stay on top of tactical execution, high standards and a strong attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
