This role will primarily be responsible for the design of digital advertising (display, high impact, native, etc.), and motion graphics and interactive design for branded content campaigns. This role sits on the Brand X team which is Ziff’s  in-house creative and content studio for advertising partners.

The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker with expert skills who can work on tight deadlines to create visually stunning ads for brands, and motion graphics that capture the style of our anchor sites - Mashable and PCMag - while meeting the advertiser’s KPIs.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Participates in building Ziff as a strong, confident, modern brand through the consistent development of materials that sing within brand guidelines
  • Helps design general sales collateral, trade marketing needs, corporate identity materials, deck templates, logos, etc
  • Creates custom rich media display advertising units on behalf of leading global brands, which run primarily on Ziff properties and our network sites
  • Participates in maintenance of ad demo site and Ziff Website
  • Studies and works from project briefs to develop top-notch creative within Ziff brand guidelines
  • Understands UX and translate storytelling to immersive, interactive designs.
  • Thinks motion-first and contributes creative input on visuals to branded video campaigns
  • Fluid in designing animated GIFs and other motion graphics products
  • Obtains client approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval.
  • Prepares finished designs for deployment through various channels
  • Is a team player and willing to contribute to larger team goals when asked.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications participating in professional societies.
  • Works with the Head of Brand X to analyze performance metrics of ad unit performance and other metrics to understand ROI of efforts and identify opportunities for growth
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in Motion Graphics Design or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in graphic design, ideally in the advertising field
  • Strong portfolio of motion graphics and video editing ability
  • Possesses knowledge of digital design best practices
  • Results oriented based on data
  • Cinematography experience a plus
  • Must have a customer focus
  • Maturity to receive constructive criticism and pivot
  • Must be detail oriented and work well under pressure
  • Works well with a team
  • Experience with graphic design tools including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash; HTML 5, CSS, After Effects, Final Cut and Sketch
