ServiceNow AI Orchestrator

Information TechnologyRemote, Arlington, Virginia

Description

About the Role
iTech is investing heavily in AI-powered delivery. We're building purpose-built tooling that changes how ServiceNow solutions are designed, built, and delivered. We're hiring a ServiceNow AI Orchestrator to operate at the center of that investment.
This is not a traditional ServiceNow developer role. Your primary working environment will be AI development tools like Claude Code and internal tooling, not ServiceNow Studio. You won't be writing code by hand. You'll be directing AI agents to produce production-grade ServiceNow solutions by writing precise, well-structured prompts grounded in deep platform knowledge.
What You'll Do
  • Direct AI agents to build ServiceNow solutions. Use Claude Code and internal AI tooling as your primary development interface to produce scoped applications, integrations, workflows, and automation.
  • Write precise, token-efficient prompts. Translate business requirements into structured instructions that include data model decisions, security patterns, best practice standards, and architectural guardrails. Get production-quality output without wasted iteration.
  • Validate and govern AI output. Review everything the AI produces against ServiceNow best practices, platform governance standards, and architectural patterns. Catch what a junior wouldn't know to look for.
  • Build and refine prompt libraries. Develop reusable prompt patterns, templates, and instruction sets that encode iTech's delivery standards and can be leveraged by the broader team.
  • Contribute to AI Foundry tooling. Help evolve iTech's internal AI platform, including MCP server configurations, context management strategies, and workflow automation.
  • Support team enablement. Help train and upskill delivery teams on effective AI-assisted development practices as the organization scales this model.
  • Stay current on AI tooling. Continuously evaluate new capabilities in Claude Code, LLM APIs, MCP ecosystem, and related tools to keep iTech's approach sharp.
What You Bring
Required
  • 4+ years of ServiceNow development/consulting experience. You need to deeply understand what makes a good ServiceNow solution. Data modeling, scoped applications, ACLs, scripting best practices (server and client side), Flow Designer, Integration Hub, and platform governance.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AI/LLM tools. You are already using tools like Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar as a core part of how you work. Not just experimenting, but relying on them to produce real output.
  • Strong prompt engineering skills. You know how to write structured, detailed prompts that specify architecture, data schema, security, naming conventions, and standards. Not just "build me a thing."
  • Understanding of ServiceNow best practices and governance. Now Create methodology, upgrade-safe development, performance considerations, scoping, update set discipline, and why these things matter.
  • Ability to review and validate AI-generated code. You can read what the AI produces and identify when it's taken shortcuts, introduced tech debt, or missed platform-specific patterns.
  • Strong communication skills. You can document prompt patterns, explain architectural decisions, and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
Preferred
  • Experience with LLM APIs. Hands-on work with Claude API (Anthropic SDK), OpenAI API, or similar. Understanding of tokens, context windows, and programmatic AI integration.
  • Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar AI agent frameworks
  • CIS Certifications and/or exposure to multiple ServiceNow product lines (ITSM, CSM, FSM, HRSD, SPM, etc.)
  • Solution design or architecture experience. Ability to think at the platform level, not just individual feature level.
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and modern development practices
Bonus
  • ServiceNow CIS or CTA-track certifications
  • Experience building or contributing to internal developer tools or platforms
  • Background in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript outside of ServiceNow
  • Familiarity with workflow automation platforms (n8n, Make, etc.)
What This Role Is NOT
To be direct. If you're looking for any of the following, this isn't the right fit:
  • A traditional ServiceNow developer role. You will have minimal direct access to ServiceNow environments. Your primary interface is AI tooling.
  • A Now Assist or Agentic AI role. You won't be configuring ServiceNow's native AI features. You'll be using external AI tools to build ServiceNow solutions, which could include Now Assist or Agentic AI, but not exclusively.
  • A junior-friendly learning opportunity. You need to already know what good ServiceNow architecture looks like, because your job is to instruct AI agents to build it that way.
  • A prompt engineering role without platform depth. Writing good prompts for ServiceNow requires knowing ServiceNow deeply.
Why This Role Exists
The way enterprise software gets built is changing. AI tools can now generate functional ServiceNow applications, integrations, and automation, but the quality of what they produce depends entirely on the quality of the instructions they receive.
iTech is building a delivery model where AI does the building and experienced platform professionals do the directing. This role is the foundation of that model. You'll help define how an entire consulting organization delivers ServiceNow solutions in the age of AI, and you'll be among the first in the ServiceNow ecosystem to hold a role like this.
