Description
OVERVIEW
iTech AG is seeking an IBM MQ Engineer with expertise in messaging middleware, including Queue Manager administration, clustering, and automation. This role operates within a collaborative team environment. The IBM MQ Engineer will be responsible for the installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of IBM MQ systems.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, configure, and maintain IBM MQ infrastructure, including Queue Managers, Cluster Channels, and Queue creation.
- Implement and manage advanced MQ configurations, such as clustering and high-availability setups.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and apply Fix Packs for MQ software.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for MQ installation and operations using Bash, Ansible, and other tools.
- Contribute to Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines with tools like Ansible.
- Provide support for IBM MQ environments, including monitoring with tools such as Splunk and Application Performance Management (APM).
- Install and configure APM Agents and Machine Controllers for application performance tracking.
- Collaborate with Patch Management teams for weekend maintenance and support activities.
- Address and resolve MQ vulnerabilities in collaboration with security teams.
- Partner with Change Management for the creation and tracking of firewall requests.
- Coordinate with Network teams and backend application teams to perform connection tests and troubleshoot issues.
- Collaborate with IBM support for PMRs and related technical resolutions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of related work experience
- Proven experience in designing, configuring, and managing IBM MQ environments.
- Strong knowledge of MQ clustering and Queue Manager configurations.
- Proficiency in Linux command-line administration and Bash scripting.
- Familiarity with Ansible and YAML scripting for automation tasks.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools like Splunk and APM systems.
- Understanding of CI/CD processes and tools, with practical experience in Ansible.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Middleware support experience, particularly with platforms like JBoss.
- Exposure to cloud platforms, such as AWS.
- Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Availability to support after-hours or weekend maintenance activities as required
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- B.S. degree. Bachelor of Science (BS) can be substituted with an additional 4 years of related experience.
SECURITY CLEARANCE
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an IRS MBI.
