HR Compliance Reviewer – Safer Recruitment Role Profile
 
Purpose of Role
Reporting to the Group Safer Recruitment Manager, the HR Compliance Reviewer – Safer Recruitment is responsible for ensuring that the recruitment process complies with safeguarding standards and legal regulations, ensuring a safe and secure environment throughout ISP. This role will focus on reviewing and auditing recruitment practices, policies, and documentation to guarantee adherence to safer recruitment guidelines and best practices.
 
HR Compliance Reviewer Key Responsibilities
 
  • Review Recruitment Processes: Examine school and regional office recruitment processes and practices to ensure they align with safer recruitment standards, safeguarding policies, and legal requirements.
  • Ensure Compliance with Legislation: Keep up-to-date with relevant legislation, including safer recruitment protocols, child protection laws, and any local or industry-specific regulations. Ensure all recruitment activities are compliant with these regulations.
  • Document Auditing: Conduct detailed reviews of recruitment documentation, including application forms, interview notes, reference checks, criminal background checks, and other hiring records, to ensure completeness and compliance with safer recruitment standards.
  • Training & Guidance: Provide guidance and support to HR teams and hiring managers regarding safer recruitment practices. Offer training to ensure recruitment and HR employees understand and follow compliance guidelines.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks or gaps in recruitment procedures that may affect the safety and security of the organisation. Make recommendations to mitigate these risks.
  • Reporting: Compile and maintain reports on recruitment compliance, providing feedback to senior HR leaders on trends, risks, and areas of improvement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the HR team, safeguarding officers, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that recruitment practices contribute to a safe, inclusive, and compliant environment.
  • Audit and Compliance Checks: Perform regular audits of recruitment files and processes to ensure ongoing adherence to the organization's safeguarding policies and safer recruitment practices.
 
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience in HR or compliance-related roles. 
  • Strong knowledge of safer recruitment practices, safeguarding policies, and employment laws. 
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with various stakeholders. 
  • Ability to identify risks and offer actionable recommendations. 
  • A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred (but not mandatory).
 
 
Desirable  
  • Experience working in an educational, healthcare, or child safeguarding setting.
  • CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) or other relevant HR professional qualification.
  • Familiarity with Criminal Background Checks including ICPC (International Child Protection Certificate), DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks, other local background checks and wider safeguarding-related processes.
 
Working Conditions  
  • Full-time position.
  • May require occasional travel or attendance at external meetings.
  • Based in-office or remote with occasional onsite visits as needed.
Salary
  • Competitive, depending on experience.
