ISP English Teacher Role Profile

 

Purpose of Role

The purpose of the English Teacher role is to deliver high-quality instruction that develops students’ proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English. The English Teacher fosters critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills while promoting a love for language and literature. Through engaging and inclusive teaching practices, the teacher supports students’ academic growth, cultural awareness, and confidence in using English in both academic and real-life contexts, in alignment with the school’s curriculum, values, and standards.

ISP English Teacher Key Responsibilities

 

  Carry out the academic program of Writing and Speech

  Plan and prepare classes

  Review, correct, and grade units, notebooks, books, and assignments on a daily basis

  Prepare and administer exams

  Design and organize assemblies

  Record grades

  Formally follow up on student progress

  Provide academic reinforcement to students who require it

  Comply with safeguarding guidelines.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong command of English language (grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Classroom management and student engagement strategies.
  • Lesson planning, curriculum design, and assessment.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Patience, creativity, and cultural awareness.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and digital learning platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or related field.
  • Teaching certification or license (e.g., TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or equivalent).
  • Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection standards.
  • Continuous professional development in teaching methodologies.

Experience

  • Prior teaching experience in primary, secondary, or higher education settings.
  • Experience preparing students for standardized exams (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge).
  • Designing and delivering lessons for mixed-ability groups.
  • Providing academic reinforcement and individualized support.
  • Participation in school activities, assemblies, and extracurricular programs.
  • Record-keeping, grading, and student progress reporting.
