Purpose of Role
Tenby Setia Ecohill is keen to employ an enthusiastic and capable Head of Humanities. Head of Humanities – Key Responsibilities

As the Head of Humanities, you will need to be passionate about achieving the best for every young person in your school. You will be knowledgeable about learning and how to guide the team in achieving amazing learning outcomes for students. You will be good at working with and inspiring your colleagues, our students, and their parents. You will be knowledgeable about keeping children safe, well, and happy, and appreciate the value of a strong, supportive school ethos and community.

Teaching and Learning
- Provide strategic leadership for the Humanities department, ensuring alignment with school goals and the ISP Learning Principles.
- Oversee departmental planning, resource allocation, timetabling, and budget management.
- Drive the use of student data to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
- Lead departmental meetings, professional learning, and performance development processes.
- Oversee internal and external assessments, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity of results.
- Ensure high-quality curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation for Key Stage 3 and IGCSE humanities subjects.
- Support high-quality communication with parents regarding student progress and curriculum matters.
- Ready to lead and contribute to school events, initiatives and improvement planning.
- Ensure safeguarding, wellbeing, and behaviour expectations are upheld at all times.

The Head of Humanities reports to the Deputy Head of Secondary (Academics)
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field. Have a recognized teaching qualification (e.g. PGDT, PGCEi or similar); A master’s degree in education or related field would be an advantage.
Experience and Skills:
• Previous middle leadership or subject leadership experience is highly desirable.
• Proven track record of strong classroom practice and positive academic achievements.
• Deep understanding of effective pedagogy and curriculum development in Humanities subjects.
• Ability to interpret and use data to drive improvement.
• Proactive, solution-focused, and collaborative.
• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusivity, and wellbeing.
