Language Academy Teacher 
Position Title: Language Academy Teacher _ After-School Activity Programme

Purpose of Role:
The British School of Almeria After-School Activity Programme is designed to complement and enhance the curriculum, the role of all After School Activity Monitors is one that is therefore responsible for organising and delivering engaging activities in their chosen area that should cater to the diverse interests and talents of our students. The activities should provide a holistic educational experience that extends beyond the classroom which aim to create a supportive and stimulating environment where students can explore new interests and develop skills.
The purpose of the Language Academy Teacher role is to deliver high-quality language instruction that supports students in developing strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and a lifelong interest in language learning. Teachers are expected to uphold the School´s educational values and methodologies, fostering an engaging, motivating, and inclusive learning environment where all students can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Adhere to global ISP Principles and follow the criteria set out by International Schools Partnership 
 
  • Under the reasonable direction of the Headteacher, Language Academy Coordinator and Head of Administration carry out the professional duties of a Language Academy Teacher.
 
  • Be professional and uphold the reputation of ISP and The British School of Almeria at all times by maintaining a positive environment and fostering good behaviour.
 
  • Interact with all members of the school community.
 
  • Adhere to the school Safeguarding and Health and Safety policy at all times.
 
  • Adhere to the set of principles as set out in the ISP Code of Conduct policy which includes dress code, wellbeing and safety amongst others.
 
  • Adhere to ISP Confidentiality agreement and Data Protection Policy.
 
 
Operational Responsibilities
 
  • The ability to supervise children in a variety of settings;
 
  • The ability to treat all students in a respectful, responsible and fair manner;
 
  • The ability to demonstrate appropriate responses to student initiated interactions;
 
  • The ability to demonstrate fair and sound judgment when coping with chaotic or conflict situations;
 
  • The ability to take direction;
 
  • The ability to work & communicate effectively within the British School of Almeria including parents, staff and students;
 
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality as the norm in all issues related to students, parents and school.
 
  • Liaise effectively with families and BSA staff to promote pupil safety and well-being
 
  • Maintain registers up to date and inform reception of any long term absences and/or sporadic attendance.
 
  • Ensure students are accounted for during transitions (to/from activities)
 
  • Ensure that all students in your activity are collected by their parents at the end of the activity.
 
  • Follow all safety procedures and report any incidents or concerns to the activity coordinator and / or school administration.
 
  • Ensure that activities are engaging.

  • Termly report writing
 
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
 
  • Minimum of High School Education
  • Preferably a native speaker or someone with native-level fluency (due to the range of levels taught)
  • Experience teaching Infants/Primary and Secondary students
  • Familiarity with the Cambridge Exam syllabus (from YLE to C1/C2)
  • Ideally, experience teaching adult learners as well
