About the Role: Sales Engineer (SE)

If you are, IronNet is seeking a highly motivated results oriented individual to join our world-class pre-sales engineering team. You will work together with IronNet’s direct sales organization on all technical aspects of selling IronNet’s solutions to our largest commercial clients. Our clients span all business sectors and sizes. You will be the subject matter expert for our sales team serving our customers and prospects for your assigned vertical.

Would you like the opportunity to work at a fast-growing mission-focused company that is delivering the power of collective cyber security to defend companies, sectors, and nations?  You will be a strategic partner through-out the sales process, actively driving and leading the technology evaluation stage of the sales cycle. Working in conjunction with the sales team, CyOC, and customer success as the key technical advisor, you will be an advocate for IronNet’s products and value-driven framework. Additionally, you will position IronNet’s technology and solutions to both business and technical users. You will identify all technical constraints of your assigned accounts to assure complete client satisfaction throughout the sales process and establish and maintain positive relationships with your client's technical staff.

The SE will have the ability to demonstrate IronNet’s products and services to clients on site, remotely via web-conferencing software, and/or at field events such as conferences.
  • Provide world-class pre-sales technical support and technical account management for IronNet’s sales organization.
  • Serves as the go-to field technical resources for the assigned vertical sales team(s), SE peers, partners, and customers utilizing domain expertise to advocate for IronNet and its collective defense cyber solutions.
  • Occasionally deliver product or industry lectures/knowledge transfer in the form of conferences or seminars.
  • Lead customers and partners through whiteboarding sessions, product demonstrations, and proof of value (POV) projects.
  • Be a professional student of the cyber industry and threat landscape while continuously learning and exploring leading edge technology, techniques and tactics.
  • Proactive listen, learn and keep a close eye on IronNet’s key competitors.
  • Be the field champion for IronNet’s product management and engineering teams.
  • Communicate cross-functionally to ensure all key stakeholders are update to date about product functionality and enhancements.
  • Partner with the product management and engineering departments to develop features critical to IronNet’s success.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth technical knowledge of the IronNet product line.
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs as required.
  • Assist in the identification of new opportunities by creating and developing strong technical relationships with customers and channel partners.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Participate in sales operations, enablement and forecast calls.
  • Demonstrate a continued ability to remain organized and analytical; able to eliminate sales obstacles using creative and adaptive approaches.
  • Comfortable working for a dynamic technical organization with a fast-growing customer base.
  • Occasional travel as needed within the theater to support State / Local Government customers.
The Ideal Candidate Should Possess the Following Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, and work experience (6+ years).
  • 5 or more years’ overall experience in the cyber security industry.
  • 4 or more years’ experience relevant to technical sales, preferably to public sector / government level customers (state / local government experience definitely a plus).
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrating a high proficiency at giving technical presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong cyber domain expertise within a core security discipline (e.g. cyber threat hunting, security operations, forensics, incident response, threat detection, security assessments, or penetration testing) with additional knowledge of security tools, industry trends, and methodologies.
  • Must have soft skills that bring a sense of self-motivation, self-awareness with a vision for the art of possible with technology.
  • The desire to work with an awesome team and a positive, “gratitude in my attitude” mindset.
Above and Beyond (technical qualifications)
  • Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud / SAAS infrastructures.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundaments, to include traffic flow, firewalls, IPS, network taps, and packet capture technologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of security focused product lines (SIEM / SOAR / EDR / CASB) with the ability to translate how solutions fit within security best practices.
  • Strong understanding of L2 to L7 OSI layers.
  • Strong Linux Operating Systems proficiency.
  • Familiarity with sales and enablement tools is a plus (SFDC).
  • Industry certifications such as GIAC, CISSP, CEH, ISACA, etc.
