Program Associates, Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative, Leadership Practice, Latin American and Caribbean

IREX seeks three entry-level Program Associates for its Leadership Practice to provide support to the activities for the Special Professional Fellows Program for Latin America and the Caribbean, under the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative. Each Program Associate will support a main programmatic component, and will also contribute their skills and knowledge to all activities.   


  • Provide administrative and logistical support for all aspects of program implementation to ensure timely, accurate, and thoughtful completion of deliverables
  • Track and analyze work plan activity progress toward project objectives and project indicator data
  • Assist with design and coordination of entrepreneurial leadership development programming, including development of online and in-person curriculum, learning materials and tool-kits for participants and alumni
  • Contribute to managing relationships, outreach, and follow-up with program participants
  • Compile and track a wide range of participant information and program data, maintaining accuracy and completeness
  • Provide backstopping to financial transactions, processing, and budget tracking
  • Assist in creation, management, and facilitation of program trainings/workshops
  • Assist with project monitoring and evaluation plan, including data collection and analysis.
  • Contribute to narrative reports to funder
  • Work with program participants and alumni, tracks success stories and program impact data
  • Support program social media, communications, publicity and outreach
  • Represent IREX and Leadership Practice interests both within and outside of IREX
  • Other programmatic and administrative duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, international education, business, or related field
  • Experience or interest in entrepreneurship programming, leadership development, and international education or exchange
  • Experience working in a multicultural and diverse environment; excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced working environment, and remain flexible while adhering to strict deadlines
  • Able to work independently and as a team member with consistent ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and be flexible
  • Demonstrated excellent writing and document proofing skills
  • Proven communication, organizational and attention to detail skills
  • Professionalism in written correspondence and report writing, excellent oral presentation and facilitation skills
  • Experience contributing to webinars and other virtual learning and exchange activities, and familiarity with learning management platforms, preferred
  • Experience in coaching, advising, or other relevant leadership development work with young professionals, preferred
  • Experience using social media tools in a work environment to demonstrate success and impact
  • Experience planning and managing events, including timelines and agendas, speaker outreach and preparation, media engagement, volunteer recruitment, and on-site staffing, preferred
  • Availability for potential domestic and international travel to partners, beneficiaries, or workshops
  • Demonstrated understanding of Latin America and Caribbean and recent regional developments
  • International work or study experience in Latin America or the Caribbean, preferred
  • Knowledge of Spanish, French or Portuguese, preferred
