 Responsibilities and Expectations:

The Sales Account Manager will be responsible for maintaining relationships with current clients and developing relationships with new and potential clients. This role will play a crucial role in expanding our market presence, building strong customer relationships, and driving sales growth within the power distribution business. The Candidate will also be responsible for estimating, collecting, and analyzing data to estimate the purchased components, raw materials, machine time, engineering, and factory labor required to design and manufacture products or provide a service to support and secure new and/or assigned accounts.

 

  •  Identify and develop sales opportunities with new, existing, and potential clients
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the electrical panels and power distribution market.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Will need to have a strong background in electrical panels and customer-fabricated equipment, particularly UL508A, UL891, and UL1558 standards
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients
  • Will be expected to recognize customer opportunities, formulate a solution, and offer the solution to potential customers 
  • Analyze specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to prepare estimates for bids and proposals
  • Estimating activity will include product lead-time and price calculations, requiring interaction with cross-functional teams including involvement with management review and approval
  • Participates with processes and procedures, providing customers with data to help Custom Equipment execute their business sales strategy
  • Create and maintain an estimating database, leveraging similar bids and proposals to shorten the time to prepare new bids while using past projects and actual costs to improve accuracy
  • Set up and maintain cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
  • Will work collaboratively with all departments and divisions, vendors, new potential, and existing customers to provide bids and proposals with the goal of securing new orders and meeting planned sales goals.
  • Evaluate a product’s cost-effectiveness and profitability.
  • Travel to job sites, customer’s and vendor’s locations to support bid, proposal, and sales efforts as needed.
  • Will be expected to work extended hours as needed to meet deadlines and department and individual sales goals.
  • Adhere to all company policies.
  • Observe all safety procedures and policies and use proper protective equipment (especially eye, and ear protection and steel toe shoes/boots, gloves, etc.).
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Report all injuries, near misses, and accidents immediately to a supervisor.
  • All other duties as assigned.  

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Minimum (8) years of experience estimating bids and proposals for projects; preferred experience in industrial power distribution, mobile data systems, data process, mobile and fixed power, comms, and engineered products. 
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 
  • Experience with enterprise software solutions and Customer Relationship Management tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Strong understanding of gathering cost data for purchased and fabricated components in support of building pricing models for new products and perfecting cost estimates on previous product sales.
  • Preferred experience with customized, highly technical industrial power and control system products required.
  • Must be able to collaboratively work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Participates in meetings.
  • Ability to write clearly and informatively; Present numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
