Responsibilities and Expectations:
The Continuous Improvement & HSEQ specialist will work closely with the Area General Managers, the facility teams, and the Regional CIPS Manager to execute the continuous improvement strategy aimed at improving the overall processes throughout the manufacturing operations facilities. A major function will also be to support the HSEQ corporate initiatives. This position is based in Winnipeg but will also support the Regina Service Center.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead all aspects of CIPS, including complying with QA standards and EHS programs within the service center
- Facilitate implementation of Continuous Improvement (CI) best practices across the facility
- Lead service center assessments against improvement framework
- Develop, train on, update, and own the continuous improvement processes, metrics, and any associated tools
- Utilize and promote lean tools such as 6S, Visual Management, Value Stream Maps, etc.
- Help the Service center team to understand operational procedure issues, implement revisions and corrective actions
- Responsible for renewing and maintaining the Site ISO certification (Winnipeg)
- Conduct regular audits. Through management, implement corrective actions and system improvements to eliminate deficiencies identified during audits
- Ensure quality records are kept and maintained in order to identify opportunities for improvements, make informed decisions, and to provide evidence of quality performance
Health, Safety & Environment
- Create and develop Job Hazard Analysis in conjunction with the safety committees
- Administer all environmental and government reporting programs to ensure locations are at the highest standards of environmental awareness, disposals, and environmentally conscious purchasing
- Administer all safety, emergency, and security programs, with related training, including development (COR, OH&S)
- Participation and leadership in steering committees, safety council meetings and senior-level presentations when needed
- Lead safety incident investigations and create required reports
Qualification and Competencies:
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience
- Training or experience in ISO 9001 is required
- Training or experience in ISO 14001, ISO 45001 is an asset
- Experience in continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience in managing projects
- Experience in training others
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in MS applications and document management software
- Ability to travel a minimum of 25% of the time
