Responsibilities & Expectations:
Integrated Power Services (IPS) is seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined individual to join our team as a Winder & Mechanic Apprentice. This entry-level role is designed for candidates looking to build a career in the repair and maintenance of industrial electric motors, generators, pumps, and related rotating equipment. Through hands-on training, you will learn mechanical repair, disassembly, assembly, winding fundamentals, testing procedures, and shop safety practices while supporting experienced technicians. - Learn to safely disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, and reassemble industrial electric motors, generators, pumps, and related equipment.
- Assist experienced mechanics and winders with motor teardown, troubleshooting, repair, and rebuild activities.
- Learn proper use of hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and shop equipment.
- Assist with bearing removal and installation, shaft measurements, and component inspections.
- Learn to identify motor and generator components, including rotors, stators, armatures, windings, and electrical connections.
- Support winding operations, including stripping, insulating, winding, and preparing coils under supervision.
- Read and interpret basic mechanical drawings, repair instructions, and work orders.
- Use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Assist with cleaning, sandblasting, painting, and preparation of equipment for repair and shipment.
- Learn safe operation of cranes, hoists, forklifts, and rigging equipment.
- Maintain accurate repair documentation and assist with job tracking requirements.
- Help maintain inventory, organize materials, and support shop housekeeping activities.
- Participate in cross-training opportunities to develop both mechanical and electrical repair skills.
- Assist with testing and quality checks to ensure repairs meet IPS standards.
- Follow all safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Report all injuries, near misses, and safety concerns immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school, vocational training, automotive, maintenance, construction, military, or industrial experience preferred but not required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Basic experience using hand tools and power tools preferred.
- Ability to read basic measurements and learn mechanical drawings and repair documentation.
- Ability to work safely in an industrial shop environment.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn from experienced technicians.
- Ability to lift, move, and work around industrial equipment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and career development.

Pay Rate Details:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour
