Responsibilities & Expectations: 

We are looking for a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team.  This person is responsible for operating and maintaining manual lathes to fabricate metal components. You will work with various materials to produce custom parts based on blueprints and customer specifications. The role requires strong attention to detail, technical skills, and the ability to follow safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.  Additional responsibilities may include: 

  • Set up and operate manual lathes to machine metal components to precise specifications
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and other technical documents to determine machining requirements
  • Select the appropriate cutting tools, speed, and feed rates for the material being machined
  • Use measuring tools to ensure components meet the required tolerances
  • Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to ensure parts are within specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines, such as cleaning, oiling, and replacing worn parts
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Collaborate with other team members, such as engineers, designers, and quality control personnel, to ensure customer specifications are met
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including time spent, materials used, and parts produced

Qualifications and Competencies: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience operating manual lathes in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Proficient in the use of measuring tools, such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and gauges
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills
  • Knowledge of machining principles and practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machine and part quality issues
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform repetitive tasks
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment with exposure to dust, fumes, and other airborne particles

Pay Details:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
