Responsibilities and Expectations: 

South East Switchgear, an IPS Company, is seeking a dedicated Switchgear Technician. In this position you will be responsible for testing, repair, recondition and retrofitting services on switchgear to meet or exceed PEARL standards. This position requires a motivated, detail-oriented team member with the ability to learn quickly and work safely. 

  • Test, repair, recondition and retrofit services on switchgear.
  • Meet or exceed PEARL standards.
  • Ability to work overtime. Mandatory overtime is required based on business need.

Qualifications and Competencies: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Mechanical aptitude preferred
  • Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test and be trained on proper respirator protocol
  • General understanding and firsthand experience with safe work environments
  • Be able to read, interpret, and modify documents
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an excellent driving record
  • Ability to possess the following certifications: PearlTM Level I and II, Forklift training, TSC Electrical Training Classes completed within one (1) year of hire date, Mine and Safety Administration (MSHA) Training, 10-30 Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Card, In-house Training on individual machines in the shop

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs. in weight  
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time  
  • Ability to perform manual labor for up to 12 or more hours per day  
  • Acute hearing and strong field of vision
  • Ability to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
