Responsibilities and Expectations: 

The General Accountant is responsible for managing financial transactions, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting financial operations. This role involves preparing financial statements, maintaining general ledgers, and reconciling balance sheet accounts. The General Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with financial regulations and providing accurate financial information to support decision-making across the organization.

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Record and manage day-to-day financial transactions.
  • Post journal entries and adjustments as needed to correct discrepancies.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Review time entry, utilization and hours for job costing/payroll.
  • Assist in sales tax reporting for the service center.
  • Manage raw materials and work-in-process inventory, including cycle counts, annual counts and general analysis of inventory.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide analysis and reports to management.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records for audit purposes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial operations and recommend solutions.
  • Implement best practices in accounting procedures and systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and budget management.

Qualifications and Competencies: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification (preferred but not required).
  • Proven experience as an accountant or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and MS Office, particularly Excel.
