Responsibilities & Expectations:
As the Regional Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, organizing, and directing the engineering department to meet company objectives for design, product development and on-time delivery. Directly supervises one or more supervisory employees and non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Oversees key projects, processes, and performance reports.
- Selects, develops, trains, and supervises staff.
- Ensures the team produces a cohesive final project
- Develops and implements policies, procedures, and programs.
- Reviews and approves proposals submitted.
- Work with other departments including operations, quality, purchasing and sales to ensure company objectives are met.
- Research, develop, design and test electrical components, equipment, and systems to match client specifications.
- Design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and military purposes.
- Design and direct engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determine methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.
- Develop applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new commercial, and military uses.
- Direct activities to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
- Direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
- Interface with clients and vendors as needed.
- Ensure product meets third party specifications, expectations and standards.
- Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods in concert with Quality Control, testing finished products and system capabilities.
- Follow safety guidelines and procedures in office and plant environment.
- Travel to client sites as needed.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Adhere to all company policies.
- Observe all safety procedures and policies and use proper protective equipment (especially eye, ear protection and steel toe shoes/boots, gloves, etc.).
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Report all injuries, near misses and accidents immediately to a supervisor.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or closely related degree, plus five to ten years’ electrical engineering experience in design and testing.
- NETA Certification (III or IV) highly preferred or equivalent skills/experience to become NETA Certified
- Ability to create, read or modify layout drawings, schematics, wiring and interconnection diagrams.
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office and AutoCAD Electrical; experience with SolidWorks a plus.
- Ability to work with unit teams in various levels and manage projects as needed
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Participates in meetings.
- Ability to write clearly and informatively; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Experience supervising a team and projects.
- PE strongly preferred
- Ability and willingness to travel
