Responsibilities and Expectations:    
Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Testing and Quality Group Leader carries out various tasks related to the repair, refurbishment and maintenance of transformers and other medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment.
  • Conduct various transformer tests, including ratio, resistance, insulation, and others as required.
  • Perform final testing to confirm transformer serviceability according to established protocols.
  • Record test results, prepare detailed reports, and maintain an inventory list of transformers.
  • Pre-inspect reassembled transformers to ensure quality and correctness.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues on related issues.
  • Perform basic testing on incoming transformers and document findings accordingly.
  • Design new nameplate drawings for refurbished transformers and assist in maintaining production equipment.
  • Document and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and warranty issues.
  • Monitor environmental conditions such as humidity and temperature, take oil samples, and ensure equipment calibration.
  • Train employees in best practices, mentor them on technical issues, and ensure work is completed on time and to standard.
 
Qualifications and Competencies:  
  • Electrical background;
  • 3-5 years' experience in the transformer testing and repair field (an asset) ;
  • Good understanding of electrical schematics ;
  • English language competency, well versed in speaking, reading and understanding.
  
Physical Requirements:  
  • Able to lift loads of approximately 60 lbs ;
  • Ability to stand all day ;
  • Ability to work at heights if needed ;
  • Rigorous, patient, and steady work pace.
