Responsibilities & Expectations:
Southland Electrical Supply, an IPS Company, is seeking a dedicated Bucket Wiring Preparation Technician for the Motor Control Center (MCC) to conduct bucket wiring and reconditioning of electrical parts. In this position, you will work with electrical components to rebuild, test, and certify for re-deployment. This position requires a motivated, detail-oriented team member with the ability to learn quickly, work safely and who possesses a strong mechanical aptitude.
- Recondition Motor Control Center (MCC) buckets to meet both company quality assurance and PEARL™ standards
- Confirm all correct electrical components are available and install in motor control center (MCC) buckets
- Ensure all electrical components are available to install, meet quality standards, and are certified for re-deployment
- Must properly maintain and wear acceptable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as required for each task
- Perform all work in accordance with safety protocol
- Participate in the following certifications: Pearl Level I and II, Forklift training, 15+ TSC Electrical Training Classes (completed within one year of hire date), 10-30 hr. OSHA card, PPE
- Ability to work overtime. Mandatory overtime is required based on business need
- Additional duties as assigned by your manager
Qualifications and Competencies:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of electrical and electronic work experience preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to adhere to and strictly follow safety protocols and promote a safety-first culture
- Must be comfortable with machinery and have mechanical/electrical aptitude
- Be able to read, interpret, and modify documents
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an excellent driving record
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, wiring of motor control center (MCC) buckets, panels, soft starts, variable frequency drives (VFD’s), and troubleshooting
of electrical components used in above mentioned devices
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs. in weight
- Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time
- Acute hearing and strong field of vision
- Potential exposure to chemicals, loud noise, forklift traffic, other trades and material handling
