Responsibilities and Expectations: 

We are looking for a dedicated Welder to join our team. As a Welder for IPS, you will identify problems and make necessary adjustments as they relate to industrial AC/DC electric motors and generators. You will use a variety of manual machine tools and balancing equipment for rotating machinery, while following service center safety procedures. You will need to have excellent attention to detail and an ability to work on drawings, sketches, and blueprints.

  • Operate manual machining tools, include engine lathes, horizontal lathes, milling machines, grinders, drilling machines, and related equipment
  • Safely use overhead, gantry cranes, and left trucks, and associate with lift rigging
  • Perform mechanical measurements using portable mechanical instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, and portable vibration measurement equipment

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Able to perform basic math functions
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of fabrication and welding experience in an industrial environment preferred. 
  • Experience in an electric motor repair shop, rotating equipment shop, or heavy industrial maintenance environment preferred.
  • Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding; additional certifications are a plus. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, technical drawings, and tape measure dimensions accurately.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication practices, material properties, and welding techniques.
  • Ability to use measuring tools including tape measures, calipers, levels, squares, and micrometers.
  • Able to understand, perform and retain various job-related training, operational, and safety procedures.
  • Excellent technical, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Self-starter and highly motivated person.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.
