Responsibilities & Expectations: 

 

The Tear Down / Mechanical Technician supports the repair and refurbishment of inverters and power electronics used in renewable energy systems, including solar PV, wind turbines, and battery energy storage. This role focuses on the safe disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and rebuilding of equipment.

  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble inverters and renewable energy equipment under supervision
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, including:
    • Screwdrivers, hex keys, spanners, and socket sets
    • Drills, impact drivers, and torque tools
    • Pliers, cutters, crimpers, and basic electrical tools
  • Clean parts and assemblies using compressed air, approved solvents, and manual cleaning methods
  • Identify obvious damage, wear, or missing components and report findings
  • Assist with larger mechanical and electrical repairs once trained
  • Follow quality standards, work instructions, and health & safety procedures at all times
  • Perform basic quality and function checks after repairs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Support continuous improvement and report any safety or quality concerns

 

Qualifications and Competencies: 

 

  • Strong interest in mechanical, electrical, or technical work
  • Willingness to learn how renewable energy equipment is repaired and refurbished
  • Basic familiarity with hand tools (full training provided)
  • Ability to understand how parts and components fit and function together
  • Basic reading skills: ability to read and follow written instructions in English
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Ability to work accurately and consistently once trained
  • Ability to regularly lift 30–60 lbs (with crane assistance)
  • Comfortable performing repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Previous experience using mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic tools preferred
  • Soldering experience preferred
  • Exposure to inverters, power electronics, or renewable energy systems preferred
