Responsibilities & Expectations:

We are looking for a dedicated Machinist to join our team. As a Manual Machinist for IPS, you will identify problems and make necessary adjustments as they relate to industrial AC/DC electric motors and generators. You will use a variety of manual machine tools and balancing equipment for rotating machinery, while following service center safety procedures. You will need to have excellent attention to detail and an ability to work from drawings, sketches, and blueprints. 

        Operate manual machining tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, drilling machines, and related equipment.

        Safely use overhead, gantry cranes, and associated rigging.

        Perform mechanical measurements using portable mechanical instruments such as dial indicators, calipers, and micrometers.

        Use welders to build up areas for machining.

        Assemble and disassemble various components.

        Create drawings for documentation and later use.

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

        Journeyperson machinist certification or journeyperson Millwright with machining experience preferred

        Apprentice machinist will be considered

        Ability to read micrometer measuring equipment

        Ability to operate manual machines of various size and dimensions

        Ability to perform basic math functions

        Ability to understand, perform and retain various job-related training, operational, and safety procedures

        Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
