Key Responsibilities and Expectations: 

 

The IT Technician for Southland Electrical Supply, an IPS company, will be responsible for installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software. In addition, this candidate will join an existing IT team that is responsible for supporting a main office in North Carolina, and remote support across the US and Canada. Support will be provided in person at the main office, and using remote connections, email, and phone for remote sites. 

  • Network administration of the WAN, LAN, and Wi-Fi in coordination with our Infrastructure Administrator to include but not limited to updates, backups, installation of new devices and troubleshooting of existing
  • Proactive monitoring and service of all servers/desktops, applications, and services to ensure high availability
  • Assist with implementation, development and support of our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System and any third-party applications (i.e. Avalara, Vantiv)
  • Collect and analyze business requirements and work with team to provide solutions
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues for locations across the United States and Canada

 

Qualifications and Competencies: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field preferred – i.e. Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems
  • Structured Query Language (SQL) preferred
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems
  • Advanced skill in the setup/use of computers as well as the Office 365™ (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.); Microsoft Teams experience
  • Must be an individual who has self-confidence and will work well in a team-oriented environment as well as independently
  • Must be organized and able to manage time effectively
  • Must be comfortable interacting with others in person and on the telephone

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:  

 

  • Will work in a climate-controlled office for a period of eight (8) hours/day, Monday through Friday
  • Occasionally, duties require work to be performed in locations that are not climate controlled such as a warehouse and can require requires bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing
  • Additional time may be required, if necessary, for special meetings, projects, completion of work assignments and on-call duties for after-hours requests
  • While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; must be able and skilled to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds
