Job Summary:

The Transformer Business Unit Leader is pivotal in the organization, responsible for cultivating and maintaining strategic relationships with stakeholders, customers, and partners in the transformer industry. This position demands a combination of business acumen, industry expertise, and relationship management skills to foster growth, innovation, and operational excellence. The Transformer Business Unit Leader will position IPS as a leader in the transformer industry and contribute to the company’s success in meeting customer needs, achieving revenue goals, and maintaining a competitive edge in the market.

 

The location for this position is flexible. Proximity to an international airport is critical due to travel requirements. 

Essential Functions:

  1. Strategic Relationship Management:
    • Build and sustain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, industry associations, and regulatory bodies
    • Collaborate closely with internal teams (such as PMD Business Team, engineering, sales, and operations) to align business strategies and enhance value propositions
    • Work closely with CCO, RGM’s, AGM’s and RSM’s to develop strategic growth drivers
  2. Market Analysis and Insights:
    • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats within the transformer industry
    • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management based on market research and competitive analysis
  3. Business Development:
    • Collaborate with the Transformer BDM to drive business development initiatives to expand market presence and grow revenue streams
    • Attend regional UCE meetings to drive business development in each US region and Canada
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and market segments aligned with company goals (VCP)
  4. Customer Engagement:
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to key customers, understanding their needs and aligning company offerings to deliver value
    • Actively manage customer relationships, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction
  5. Strategic Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to achieve business objectives and drive growth
    • Monitor and evaluate business performance metrics, adjusting strategies as needed to maximize results
  6. Industry Leadership and Advocacy:
    • Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and associations to enhance visibility and influence
    • Advocate for industry best practices, standards, and regulatory compliance
  7. Innovation and Product Development:
    • Collaborate with internal teams to drive innovation in transformer design, manufacturing processes, and service offerings
    • Lead initiatives to develop and commercialize new products or technologies aligned with market demands
  8. Financial Management:
    • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics related to business development initiatives
    • Implement cost-effective strategies to optimize profitability and return on investment

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees (MBA or equivalent) preferred
  • Proven experience (8-10+ years) in a strategic business development or partnership management role within the transformer industry or a related field
  • Strong understanding of transformer technologies, market dynamics, and industry trends
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budget management, and project planning
  • Travel requirements - 25-50% with the ability to travel internationally
