A day in the life…
Wondering what a day in the life of a Payment Management Team Lead at The Iowa Clinic might look like?
  • Arrive at work in the morning for our onsite position – no night shifts here!
  • Oversees, processes, and directs day-to-day work performance related to payments, refunds, and clerical management. Acts as a resource for questions and concerns for payment management staff. 
  • Resolve team member inquires and escalate issues to management as needed.
  • Participates in hiring, orientation, training, scheduling, and provides day-to-day operational supervision for assigned staff.
  • Collaborates with the Payment Management Supervisor to interpret and apply HR policies, as well as develop and implement procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of duties for Payment Poster, Refund Auditor, and Clerical Support and performs these functions as needed. 
  • Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting area of responsibility and makes recommendations for changes to ensure compliance. Actively pursues inconsistencies and/or inaccuracies and appropriately brings to the attention of the Payment Management Supervisor.
  • Promotes a positive, professional image and represents The Iowa Clinic and Physician Management Resources both internally and externally. Promotes positive interpersonal relations and serves as a role model with all personnel while maintaining confidentiality.
  •  Assists coworkers when appropriate, performing additional tasks as required.

Qualifications Required
  • A desire to find a meaningful, fulfilling career while thinking independently with good judgment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in medical billing with an emphasis on medical payment posting for Physicians required.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Previous team lead or supervisory experience required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; skilled in keyboarding and 10-key.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbally while remaining organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
