Pharmacy Technician - (Full-Time)
Description
Seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our oncology pharmacy team. The pharmacy tech will be responsible for sterile IV preparation, non-sterile and sterile compounding, and assisting the pharmacist with the preparation and handling of chemotherapy and hazardous drugs in compliance with USP <797> and UPS <800> standards. Prior chemotherapy compounding experience is preferred but not required- comprehensive training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and compound sterile IV admixtures, including chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy medications, under aseptic conditions in a cleanroom environment.
- Accurately measure, mix, and label medications according to established protocols and prescriptions.
- Assist in maintaining proper inventory of compounding supplies, medications, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform cleaning and maintenance of IV hoods, cleanroom, and ante-room in compliance with USP <797>/<800> standards.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all compounding and preparation activities.
- Handle, store, and dispose of hazardous drugs safely and in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support pharmacist in ensuring the accuracy and sterility of all compounded products.
- Adhere to all facility, state, and federal pharmacy regulations and safety protocols.
- Participate in ongoing training and competency assessments related to aseptic and hazardous drug handling.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program preferred.
- IV compounding and/or sterile compounding experience required.
- Chemotherapy preparation experience preferred, but not required training will be provided.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining sterile technique.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity to manipulate syringes, vials, and compounding equipment.
- Must be able to wear required PPE for handling hazardous drugs.
