Wondering what a day in the life of an Manager- IT Enterprise Applications at The Iowa Clinic might look like?
 
The Manager - IT Enterprise Applications provides hands-on leadership for enterprise clinical and business applications, ensuring reliable performance, regulatory compliance, and effective day-to-day operations. This role oversees application support, leads software implementations and optimizations, and develops high-performing teams while partnering closely with clinical, business, and vendor stakeholders.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations for assigned enterprise applications, ensuring SLA adherence and timely incident/request resolution
  • Lead, coach, and develop application and interface analysts through performance management, training, and succession planning
  • Balance operational support with project work, including resource planning and on-call coverage
  • Execute application projects and roadmap initiatives, including testing, training, and go-live support
  • Oversee software implementations, upgrades, and enhancements, managing scope, timelines, and risk
  • Drive workflow analysis, system optimization, and process improvement across supported applications
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and business leaders to align technology with organizational needs
  • Manage vendor relationships, issue escalation, and participation in vendor forums and training
  • Monitor and report operational performance metrics (SLAs, uptime, backlog, release success)
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and adherence to organizational security and change management standards
Performance Expectations
  • ≥ 90% SLA compliance for P2/P3 tickets; P1 MTTR ≤ 4 hours
  • Median ticket backlog age ≤ 30 days
  • Successful on-time delivery of assigned projects and releases
  • Regular delivery of system optimizations with documented value
  • Strong team retention and defined career growth pathways
 
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in healthcare application leadership (EHR, perioperative, revenue cycle, or data systems)
  • Strong background in application support operations, software implementations, and change/release management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and collaborate across clinical and business functions
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
