A day in the life…
Wondering what a day in the life of Pharmacy Technician at The Iowa Clinic might look like?
  • Prepare and compound sterile IV admixtures, including chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy medications, under aseptic conditions in a cleanroom environment.
  • Accurately measure, mix, and label medications according to established protocols and prescriptions.
  • Assist in maintaining proper inventory of compounding supplies, medications, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of IV hoods, cleanroom, and ante-room in compliance with USP <797>/<800> standards.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all compounding and preparation activities.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of hazardous drugs safely and in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support pharmacist in ensuring the accuracy and sterility of all compounded products.
  • Adhere to all facility, state, and federal pharmacy regulations and safety protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing training and competency assessments related to aseptic and hazardous drug handling.
This job might be for you if…
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program preferred.
Qualifications
  • IV compounding and/or sterile compounding experience required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining sterile technique.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Bonus points if…
  • Chemotherapy preparation experience preferred, but not required training will be provided.
