A day in the life…
Wondering what a day in the life of a Payment Management Supervisor at The Iowa Clinic might look like?
- Arrive at work in the morning – no night shifts here!
- Oversees, processes, and directs day-to-day work performance related to payment posting, banking, lock box, mail, refunds, and reconciliations. Acts as a resource for questions and concerns for all payment management staff.
- Facilitate and oversees the training and orientation of employees and provides day-to-day operational supervision of assigned staff. Leads in hiring new employees, employee evaluations and employee corrective action as appropriate.
- Collaborates with the CBO Manager and leadership teams in developing and implementing Revenue Cycle Management policies and procedures. Pro-actively works with the CBO Manager and fellow Supervisors in identifying and resolving issues to assure high quality, efficient, cost-effective services consistent with the needs to the organization.
- Maintains working knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of Payment Management staff with an ability to perform the functions in the event of an absence or increased workload.
- Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting area of responsibility and makes recommendations for changes to ensure compliance. Actively pursues inconsistencies and/or inaccuracies in coding and/or billing and appropriately brings to the attention of the CBO Manager.
- Promotes a positive, professional image and represents The Iowa Clinic and Physician Management Resources both internally and externally. Promotes positive interpersonal relations and serves as a role model with all personnel.

Qualifications

- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in medical billing with an emphasis on payment posting
- Working knowledge of medical terminology required
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required
