Senior Supply Chain Manager - New Product Development
Description
The Senior Supply Chain Manager for New Product Development (NPD) is the supply-chain owner for new product introductions from concept through launch readiness. This role is accountable for ensuring that new products enter production with executable, costed, and scalable supply chains in place. The position acts as the primary supply-chain integrator across Product, Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Asia Operations, Procurement leadership, and external suppliers.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Own end-to-end supply chain readiness for all NPD programs, including supplier capacity, long-lead material availability, cost validation, and launch timing prior to release-to production decisions.
- Develop and maintain NPD supply plans, working closely with Logistics to ensure timely availability and movement of raw materials and finished goods in support of build schedules, launch readiness, and release-to-production milestones.
- Partner with Product Management and Engineering to assess supply-chain feasibility during early design phases and influence design-for-manufacture and design-for-supply decisions.
- Validate supplier quotations, MOQs, lead times, and cost assumptions; surface commercial or capacity risks that could impact launch timing or margin.
- Communicate forecasted demand and planned purchase signals to global suppliers to enable planning of long-lead raw materials.
- Monitor supplier-owned and InVue-owned raw material exposure for NPD items and proactively manage risk of excess or obsolescence.
- Serve as the supply-chain lead within cross-functional NPD teams, coordinating alignment across Product, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and external partners.
- Exercise independent judgment within defined approval thresholds and escalate supply chain risks or tradeoffs impacting launch timing, cost, or customer commitments.
- Ensure item master, BOMs, and critical attributes are accurately established in enterprise systems to support launch execution.
- Communicate regularly with Asia-based suppliers and operations teams, including participation in off-hours calls as required to support program timelines.
DECISION AUTHORITY:
The NPD Supply Chain Manager is empowered to make day-to-day decisions regarding NPD supply planning, supplier readiness confirmation, PO release timing within approved limits, and risk mitigation actions. Escalation is required for material cost variances, capacity constraints, or issues that threaten launch timelines or financial commitments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Materials Planning, or Operations, with direct NPD or launch experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with Asian suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- Strong understanding of BOM structures, item master data, and supply/demand planning principles.
- Ability to manage multiple NPD programs concurrently and prioritize based on business impact.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including supplier-facing negotiations.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills; ERP/AS400 experience a plus.
- Willingness to support global operations across time zones including after-hours calls and meetings as required.
