Description:

 

Candidate will be a member of New Product Development Team and will be responsible for management of a Quality Test Laboratory.  The successful candidate will be responsible for verification and validation of new product development products prior to release to the customer.  The successful candidate will have the responsibility for the lab, lab equipment, and management of five test technicians.  The Test Manager will report directly to the Quality Manager.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Grow the capabilities of InVue’s test laboratory and test personnel to meet the current and future needs of the business
  • Improve laboratory processes to enhance operational efficiency
  • Develop product verification and validation test plans and ensure the lab and personnel are appropriately equipped to carry out prescribed test procedures
  • Manage five test technicians, assuring that priorities are managed appropriately to satisfy business needs
  • Track record of root cause determination and effective corrective / preventive action implementation
  • Provides training for lab personnel to assure the skill set of personnel matches the evolving needs of the business
  • Assures test reports are complete and communicates effectively with the development team on areas of improvement required in products prior to customer launches
  • Incorporates lessons learned into test procedures to continually improve the quality of product launches
  • Interacting effectively with internal resources
  • Effectively communicates test completion dates based on resource loading, priority, and test requests
  • Manages and improves the test request system
  • Effectively employing problem solving tools/methodology when test failures occur to provide the development team effectively and efficiently with the information necessary to correct deficiencies in products prior to product launch
  • Works with contract manufacturers and internal resources overseas to assure effective and consistent test data across locations
  • Understanding both internal and external customer requirements
  • Participates and supports various development activities including design reviews and risk assessments
  • Actively participate and assist teams with Risk Analysis to include Risk Assessments, DFMEA/PFMEA’s, etc.
  • Support the investigation of product complaints by developing and performing tests to recreate reported failures and then incorporates those lessons learned into future product development Verification and Validation activities.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of verification and validation testing to ensure adequate test coverage for new products and sustaining design changes
  • Develops and maintains all tool and process validations- reviews and approves all validation documentation
  • Participates in site visits with customers and customer feedback workshops
  • Identifies and implements process improvement initiatives, especially scalable, risk-based processes

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required, Electrical or Mechanical preferred
  • A minimum of 5-7 years related work experience new product development quality or test environment (required)
  • 2-3 years experience managing a product development laboratory (required)
  • Experience with test method development & validation (e.g. measurement/test system development, gage R&R, etc.)
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and remote teams
  • Excellent analytical decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work and perform in team environments
  • Knowledge of EE hardware & firmware development as applied to Internet of Things products
  • Developed & implemented sustaining test initiatives in previous roles & strong track record of delivering results
  • Proven problem-solving skills, experienced in: reliability methods, statistical process control, data mining, and quality measurement methodologies
  • Experienced in customer interaction/communications
  • Knowledge of field management, returns, and warranty processes
  • Developed & implemented sustaining test initiatives in previous roles & strong record of accomplishment of delivering results
  • Able to breakdown complex problems into manageable projects; can create logical plans and schedules for themselves and others in the team to achieve the organizations goals
  • International travel, supplier and customer visits, 10% of the time
