Role - SAP Basis Consultant
Summary           
The SAP Basis Consultant is responsible for the administration, configuration, and maintenance of SAP systems. This includes system installations, upgrades, patches, performance tuning, and ensuring the overall health of the SAP environment. The consultant will work closely with technical and functional teams to provide seamless support for ongoing operations and projects. 
Responsibilities
  • Operating Systems Administration.
  • Operating System Installation: Ensure operating system software is properly installed, tested, and tuned to maximize operating efficiency.
  • Operating System Modification: Customize and upgrade operating and related systems to meet ongoing user needs.
  • Operating System Performance Analysis: Evaluate levels of systems operations and recommend measures to improve overall performance.
  • Operating Systems Maintenance: Monitor and maintain operating and related systems to ensure minimal interruption of production systems and to maintain maximum system availability.
  • Operations Support: Provide technical support to computer operations and applications programming staff to ensure availability of production and on-line systems.
  • Security Management: Ensure safety and security of information system assets and protect systems from inappropriate access or destruction.
  • Network Design and Configuration: Design and engineer network installations to meet information processing and traffic needs.
  • Network Analysis and Management: Analyze and monitor network activity to ensure optimal network operation.
  • Control/Security: Control network activity to ensure sound and secure operations.
  • Network Administration and Support: Administration of assigned network to optimize services and access to telecommunications and related networks.
  • Database Maintenance/Management: Design, create, manage and maintain physical databases including database storage management, procedures and tools for access, database security, and monitoring and tuning the database to ensure ongoing operation and access.
  • Database Installation and Configuration: Ability to install and Configure Database such as Oracle, MS SQL, etc.
  • Database maintenance: Maintaining databases, updating permissions, and performing regular maintenance and reorganizations.
  • Data security: Ensuring that organizational data is secure and implementing security measures to protect data integrity and privacy.
  • Data backup and recovery: Backing up and restoring data to prevent data loss, and developing, managing, and testing back-up and recovery plans.
  • Database performance: Monitoring and improving the performance of the database and performing regular performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Database Monitoring: Proactive Monitoring to report and correct for any abnormal issues observed.
  • Provide technical support for projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with functional consultants, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions.
  • Implement best practices for database management and optimization.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Generate regular reports on system performance, availability, and security status.
  • Perform regular system backups and restorations as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures related to user access.
  • Conduct regular system maintenance activities such as applying patches, updates, and support packages.
  • Manage and monitor system performance, availability, and security.

    Skills & Qualifications 

    • Administration experience.
    • Experience with operating systems (e.g., Windows, Unix/Linux).
    • Understands network and infrastructure principles.
    • Familiarity with database management (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Max DB, Sybase)
    • Proficiency in system monitoring tools and techniques.
    Business Skills             
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to communicate with others clearly and concisely.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Understands business processes for focus areas or modules.
    • Ability to do research and perform detailed tasks.
    • Strong analytical skills.
