Senior Functional Configuration Consultant – SAP HR (Hire-to-Retire)
Engagement Type: Contract (with potential for contract-to-hire) Work Model: Onshore, CONUS-based, Eastern Time support (Resource must be physically located within the continental United States and able to support Eastern Time business hours.)
Minimum Experience & Certifications
  • 10+ years of SAP HCM functional experience
  • 5+ years supporting SAP S/4HANA 1909 or higher
  • 3+ years in an AMS / production support role (not implementation-only)
  • SAP certification in one or more of the following:
    • SAP Human Capital Management
    • SAP S/4HANA Cloud (HR or related)
    • SAP SuccessFactors (preferred but not required)
  • Experience supporting public sector or regulated environments strongly preferred
SAP Skills
  • Hands-on functional configuration and support of SAP S/4HANA HCM supporting Hire-to-Retire
  • Deep expertise in Personnel Administration (PA), Organizational Management (OM), and Time Management
  • Experience supporting Travel & Expense processes integrated with Finance
  • Integration experience with payroll providers (e.g., ADP) and timekeeping systems
  • Familiarity with the RISE with SAP operating model and SAP Cloud ALM
  • Working knowledge of HR security roles, authorizations, and sensitive data controls
  • Experience with Fiori-based HR processes and end-user support
Business Skills
  • Strong understanding of HR operations in public-sector or compliance-driven organizations
  • Ability to interpret HR policies, labor rules, and agency procedures into SAP configuration
  • Experience supporting monthly, quarterly, and year-end HR cycles
  • Ability to work closely with HR leadership, payroll, Finance, IT, and auditors
  • Awareness of data privacy and regulatory requirements impacting HR systems
Consulting Skills
  • Proven experience delivering AMS functional support, including incidents, service requests, and minor enhancements
  • Strong root-cause analysis and issue resolution skills in a production environment
  • Ability to maintain functional documentation, runbooks, and SOPs
  • Experience supporting system transitions, upgrades, and post-migration stabilization
  • Ability to apply clean core principles while meeting operational needs
Leadership Skills
  • Serves as functional lead for Hire-to-Retire within the AMS team
  • Acts as escalation point for complex HR functional issues
  • Coordinates with SAP, Basis, Security, and Finance teams
  • Supports transition and knowledge transfer from incumbent providers
  • Mentors junior or offshore functional resources as needed
Personnel Development
  • Coaches team members on SAP HR best practices and client-specific processes
  • Contributes to reusable AMS assets and knowledge base
  • Supports cross-training across Finance and Integration touchpoints
  • Participates in continuous improvement and skills development initiatives
General Skills / Tasks
  • Provide reliable onshore support during business-critical processing periods
  • Participate in SLA tracking, service reviews, and audit support
  • Assist with planning future upgrades and HR process optimizations
  • Maintain high service quality in a regulated, mission-critical environment
