POSITION SUMMARY
 
The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots and repairs all mining equipment, pumps, pipelines, and various machinery. This position requires the ability to work safely, whether independently or within a team, with a wide range of mechanical knowledge and welding skills, and flexibility in your working schedule for callouts or other unusual circumstances.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Troubleshoot and repair items including, but not limited to: conveyor belts, loadout equipment, and mobile and stationary equipment 
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery, including, but not limited to; greasing, changing oil, looking for defects during service session, torque, etc 
  • Install and change: motors, chains, gear boxes, differentials and/or suspension work 
  • Perform cutting (Oxy and acetylene) welding and rigging procedures 
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections to ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently 
  • Fabricate and install pumps and/or rebuild gear boxes 
  • Operate forklift, front-end loader, and other heavy equipment 
  • Read prints and diagrams 
  • Determine if work areas are safe and observe all OSHA and Intrepid’s safety rules and policies 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Valid Driver’s license 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Availability for callouts as needed 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • OSHA 10HR 
  • A minimum of 2 year of experience in an industrial work setting doing maintenance work is preferred 
  • Experience doing maintenance work with a good safety record 
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to weld, cut, grind, and work with steel and poly pipelines 
  • Knowledge of pumps, seals, packing, and bearings 
  • Ability to problem solve, learn processes quickly, and stay calm in a stressful environment 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is typically performed outdoors in a non-temperature controlled environment. The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee:
  • Is regularly required to lift heavy objects (50lbs <=) and work in confined spaces
  • May have to work at heights in a non-temperature-controlled environment and unpredictable weather conditions
  • Is regularly exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
  • Is required to always wear safety attire and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Will frequently be standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching and grasping
  • Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders, work at heights on occasion, and perceive color differences
SCHDULE
  • A 40 hour a week work schedule will be required with call outs as part of the job
