Job Title: Power Crew Operator
Reports To: Mine Electrical Supervisor
Location: New Mexico – East Plant

OVERVIEW

A Power Crew Operator is responsible for assisting in moving, relocating and installing power distribution from underground substations to area transformers throughout the mine. This position requires the ability to work safely, whether independently or within a team, an attention to detail, familiarity with operating heavy machinery.

JOB DUTIES

  • Advance and retreat area and miner transformers in working panels
  • Set up, hang and retrieve high voltage cables to advance primary and secondary power feed to mining equipment.
  • Perform area moves, involving operating mining equipment such as, roof bolters, battery and cable cars, intake and exhaust fans
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections to ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently
  • Follow and adhere to written instructions when opening and closing electrical circuits at substations and disconnects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Minimum one (1) year general labor and/or industrial plant experience
  • Underground mining experience preferred
  • Electricial experience preferred
  • Willingness to learn and assist with basic low voltage installations, such as: radios on mobile equipment, replacing batteries on tracker nodes, and replacing batteries on cap lamps

SCHEDULE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
9/80 schedule: Monday – Thursday (6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.), Fridays worked (6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) at minimum, with every other Friday off. Schedule subject to change.

  • Underground mining environment that is often not well lit and is at low heights
  • Exposed to louder than moderate noises (ex: vehicle noises, machinery noises, etc.)
    Employees are required to wear safety attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Job physical requirements include: standing, walking, sitting (while driving) over 2/3 of work time, squatting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and fingers movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and push and/or pull up to 50 lbs. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and engage in strenuous physical activity.

A pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test will be required for anyone selected for this opportunity. Placement into the position will not be made until the results are received and cleared by Intrepid.
