Job Title: Mine Maintenance Technician
Reports To: Mine Maintenance Supervisor
Location: New Mexico – East Plant
(Relocation assistance available for candidates that qualify when applicable)
OVERVIEW
A Mine Maintenance Technician troubleshoots all underground mining equipment and various machinery. This position requires the ability to work safely, whether independently or within a team, a wide mechanical knowledge, and flexibility for on-call schedules.
JOB DUTIES
- Troubleshoot and repair items including, but not limited to: hydraulic mining equipment, conveyor belts, ore loadout equipment, and mobile and stationary diesel equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance items on equipment and machinery, including: greasing, changing oil, looking for defects during service session, torque drain plugs, etc.
- Install and change: motors, chains, gear boxes, transmissions, differentials and/or suspension work
- Preform cutting (Oxy and acetylene) welding and rigging procedures
- Conduct pre-shift inspections to ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Minimum two (2) years of industrial maintenance experience – underground mining experience preferred
- Must be able to provide own tools – tools needed are basic American-made mechanic hand tools in both metric and SAE up to 1 ¼ SAE and 30mm. Any other larger tools are provided by Intrepid
- Must be able to read and understand electrical, structural and hydraulic drawings
- Must be available to work a call-out schedule for a 24/7 operation

SCHEDULE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- 9/80 schedule: Tuesday – Friday (6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.), Mondays worked (6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) at minimum, with every other Monday off
Schedule subject to change.
As part of a 24/7 maintenance support team, employees will be on a rotating on-call schedule. Some overtime may be required to complete tasks and keep equipment running.
- Underground mining environment that is often not well lit and is at low heights
- Exposed to louder than moderate noises (ex: vehicle noises, machinery noises, etc.)
Employees are required to wear safety attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Standing, walking, sitting (while driving) over 2/3 of work time, squatting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and fingers movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and push and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and engage in strenuous physical activity
A pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test will be required for anyone selected for this opportunity. Placement into the position will not be made until the results are received and cleared by Intrepid.
