Job Title: Ranch Operator
Reports To: Water and South Ranch Manager
Location: New Mexico – Various

OVERVIEW
A Ranch Operator supports the water and other ranch operations at the Intrepid South location. This position requires problem-solving skills, basic electrical knowledge, and familiarity for working around a variety of field equipment.

JOB DUTIES

  • Operate heavy equipment including but not limited to loader, etc. 
  • Assist with operating, troubleshooting and maintaining: water wells, pumps, valves, pipelines, metering equipment, and communications and controls for water delivery systems
  • Perform outside activities, including, but not limited to: digging holes for posts, removing and replacing marker signs, etc.
  • Set pressure reducing valves, and replace as needed
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections, as well as preventative maintenance and equipment clean up, to ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently
  • Perform water well pumper tasks as required
  • Communicate any updates, issues and other items on various projects to managers, contractors and other employees
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Minimum one (1) year general labor and/or industrial experience, electrical experience and knowledge preferred
  • Ability to drive extensively, get in-and-out of vehicles repeatedly, and walk several miles per day

SCHEDULE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Graveyard shift - 10 hour work days + drive time. Schedule subject to change.

  • Outdoors, in a non-temperature controlled environment, and subject to weather conditions
  • Exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
    Employees are required to wear safety attire and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping
  • Must be able to sit in a vehicle and drive extensively, get in-and-out of vehicles repeatedly, and walk several miles at locations per day
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. up to 2/3 of the time, and up to 100 lbs. under 1/3 of the time
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and engage in strenuous physical activity

A pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test will be required for anyone selected for this opportunity. Placement into the position will not be made until the results are received and cleared by Intrepid.
