Insurity’s Next Manager, Development
Insurity is seeking a Manager, Development to lead multidisciplinary teams in the creation of highly configurable P&C insurance applications and the execution of strategic ML and AI initiatives. The role involves managing a team of Developers, Business Analysts while facilitating scrum ceremonies and collaborating with Quality Assurance and Product Management to deliver cutting-edge, intelligent software solutions.
What Our Manager, Development Will Do
- Lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing, highly engaged team of individual contributors, typically performing similar functions
- Interview, hire, onboard, and retain exceptional talent
- Provide input to departmental goals and ensure goals are met
- Adopt and reinforce company policies, processes, and programs
- Lead team members using the company’s performance management and development process • Support a culture that emphasizes the strategy, guiding principles, and core values
- Communicate effectively & regularly with team members, peers, and leaders
- Manage financial responsibilities and activities
- Develop and maintain trusted customer relationships
- Effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Drive efficient utilization across the team
- Communicate financial and goal results, and KPIs to direct reports
- Perform tasks as an individual contributor to support the team as needed
- Management of the Scrum schedule including resourcing, planning of deliverables, and setting of milestones
- Report Sprint status on a regular basis to management, project teams and customers through internal and external status reports
- Facilitate all aspects of the Scrum framework, including sprint planning sessions, daily scrums, sprint reviews and sprint retrospectives
- Maintain the Scrum team capacity plan, Scrum board, sprint backlog and other useful scrum tools as needed
- Identify and help remove impediments to enable success of the Sprint team
- Identify and communicate potential risks to the completion of the Sprints and facilitate selected solutions
- Distribute appropriate and timely written communication with all internal stakeholders throughout the life of the sprints
- Proactively manage commitment risks and issues providing appropriate issues escalation to the necessary levels
- Foster a collaborative culture within the team
- Support and partner with the Product
Who We’re Looking For
- Communication and Presentation Skills: Exceptional planning, communication, and presentation skills in English, with a well-rounded technical and business knowledge.
- Leadership Experience: Excellent leadership skills with proven experience managing software projects.
- Modern Delivery Expertise: Software delivery experience in a customer-centric, flexible Enterprise SaaS environment.
- Budget Management: Experience with budgetary responsibility for development teams.
- Matrix Environment Experience: Proven ability to work in a matrix environment and influence along dotted line organization models.
- Project Management Proficiency: Excellent project management skills with strong knowledge of project management software and version control tools.
- Global Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with remote and international teams.
Recommended Experience
- 10+ years in a technology leadership position, managing people and the SAFe Agile and Scrum processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or related field (equivalent work experience may be considered).
- Master’s degree an asset.
- Knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance domain will be a plus.
- Travel within India and North America required (less than 10%)
