Walpole Co-operative Bank is seeking a proactive Payroll/HR Administrator who will be responsible for providing day to day human resource support in the areas of payroll, onboarding and benefits administration, employee relations, compliance and training.
Payroll/HR Administrator Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field required; PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification a plus
- 1-3 years’ human resources related experience in a professional services environment
- Previous experience processing payroll required
- Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
- Effective written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills
- High degree of professionalism to maintain company and employee confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; prior experience with HRIS systems
- Completes and passes all Bank related regulatory and compliance training

Payroll/HR Administrator Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the main human resources contact for HR, payroll, and benefits related questions
- Prepare and process weekly payroll
- Maintain and update HR Policy Manual and Employee Handbook
- Manage recruiting process including job postings, applicant review, and communications with hiring managers
- Coordinate and process pre-employment reference checks, background checks, disability and workers’ compensation claims, and unemployment claims
- Manage onboarding of new hires including new hire orientation and benefit administration
- Lead open enrollment process, communication with insurance carriers, FSA and HRS administration and payment of insurance invoices
- Coordinate the performance review process and coach managers on employee relations
- Perform exit interviews and provide departed employees with information regarding termination of benefits
- Assist with salary, benefit, and Directors’ surveys
- Ensure labor law and required OSHA postings and company bulletin boards are current
- Serve as the Bank’s point person with the Cooperative Bank Employees Retirement Association (CBERA) and Savings Bank Employees Retirement Association (SBERA)
- Administer medical and prescription insurance programs for retirees
- Maintain employee records ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality
