The Sr. Firmware Engineer will be part of a team that develops hardware and software validation platforms and performs post-silicon validation of high-speed communication ASICs for coherent optical applications. The Sr. Firmware Engineer will be immersed in an optical systems validation team and work alongside firmware, systems, optical, and hardware engineers to develop embedded software that will drive optical evaluation platforms.


  • Understand system requirements and translate them to resource-constrained microcontroller environments
  • Design and implement control systems in firmware based on specification of hardware devices
  • Implement calibration algorithms possibly described in higher-level languages
  • Implement unit testing
  • Debug firmware through hands-on operation of hardware in a laboratory environment
  • Perform measurements in an optical laboratory environment to validate firmware components
  • Design and implement automated regression tests that run on real test setups
  • Create documentation



  • Engineering degree in electronics, computers, software, or telecommunications
  • Proven experience in C, C++, and Python programming
  • Proven experience in embedded software development
  • Adequate knowledge of embedded hardware
  • Capable of debugging firmware on a laboratory environment
  • Good English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Availability for extended travel (2+ months together) to US
