Instructional Designer Intern

Department: Enterprise Enablement
Location: Onsite Plano
Duration: immediate start date through Summer 2026
Hours: Up to 25 hours per week

About the Role

We’re looking for a curious, creative, and motivated Instructional Designer Intern to support our Learning & Development team. This internship is a hands-on opportunity to learn how effective training is designed, built, and delivered in a real business environment.

You’ll collaborate with experienced instructional designers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to help create engaging learning experiences—ranging from eLearning and videos to job aids and facilitator materials. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about learning, design, and helping others succeed.

What You’ll Do

As an Instructional Designer Intern, you will:

  • Assist with the design and development of eLearning modules, microlearning, and training materials
  • Help organize and structure content based on learning objectives and audience needs
  • Support storyboard creation, content outlines, and script development
  • Edit and update existing training materials (slides, job aids, guides, etc.)
  • Learn and apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices
  • Collaborate with team members during brainstorming, reviews, and project meetings
  • Help with basic multimedia tasks such as slide design, simple graphics, or video support
  • Participate in feedback cycles and revisions to improve learning effectiveness

What You’ll Learn

By the end of the internship, you’ll gain experience in:

  • The end-to-end instructional design process (from discovery to delivery)
  • Working with stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Using instructional design tools and templates
  • Applying adult learning theory in a corporate setting
  • Creating content that balances creativity, clarity, and business needs

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Education, Communications, Psychology, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Basic familiarity with PowerPoint, Google Slides, or similar tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Rise, Captivate, iSpring, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe tools, or basic graphic design
  • Interest in video, animation, or multimedia learning
  • Understanding of adult learning principles or ADDIE/5D models

Inogen assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees.  The base salary for this position is expected to be between $21.19 and $23.37 per hour. However, actual base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and will be based on non-discriminatory factors, including as to individual skills, education, experience and market location.
