This role of Lead Electrical Engineer – Order Engineering is a member of the Waukesha Power Systems and Order Customization team.  Responsibilities include genset controls and generator protections component selection, system design, development, validation, manufacturing product support and field support activities.  Additional responsibilities include engine electrical accessories, genset electrical accessories, electrical wiring harnesses, and communications.
 
Location – this position has a hybrid work structure to include a combination of onsite in Waukesha & remote from home.
 
Essential Responsibilities             
  Create new product designs and product assemblies and solve design and reliability problems – specifically related to wire harnessing and control panels on INNIO-Waukesha engines and gensets.
  Procure prototype hardware for design verification, product release, and trouble-shooting production and field service type problems
  Develop technical requirements and quality standards while working closely with technical and cross-functional personnel
  Perform engineering studies and calculations within the scope of assigned work
  Participate in project teams for technical design reviews
  Ensure all required business system transactions associated with ECN releases are completed as required
  Provide technical support to other functional areas and service technicians as required
  Assume leadership role of a cross functional team as required
  Participate in and assist with the creation and development of Waukesha quality documents
 
Qualifications/Requirements     
  Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Computer Science from an accredited Technical College or University
  Minimum 5 years of experience in an electrical engineering role
  Experience with control systems for reciprocating engines, vehicles, aircraft or other industrial machinery
  Experience with control systems (panels, switchgear, controllers) for engine-generator sets
  Experience with embedded controls hardware
  Familiarity with RS-485, CANbus, Modbus and other industrial communication protocols
 
Desired Characteristics 
  Advanced technical education in electrical / mechanical engineering or computer sciences (Masters or PhD) – focus on control systems
  AutoCAD (2D) for circuit schematic design
  Wiring or harnessing design experience
  Demonstrated proficiency utilizing electrical engineering skills to analyze technical requirements and applying appropriate skill set to design and detail complex components and assemblies within Pro/E or other similar solid modeling CAD software
  Experience with Creo or other software for modeling and routing of wire harnesses on industrial machines
  Proficiency in managing technical and organizational assignments
  Demonstrated problem solving skills
  Organizational skills required to effectively handle multiple tasks
  Communication & Interpersonal skills required to function effectively with engineering and inter-department team
  Demonstrated proficiency in written, oral, and presentation skills
  Embrace continuous improvement and have a strong desire to learn
