Position Overview:
The Demand Planner is a key role within the organization, responsible for managing and optimizing the balance between supply and demand for Waukesha engines. Reporting to the SIOP Manager, the Demand Planner is tasked with establishing a forecast and inventory strategy and flawlessly executing the material plan. This role provides crucial inputs into the Waukesha Engines SIOP process, including the monthly forecast, inventory optimization, analytics, and product family reporting. The Demand Planner is also responsible for engine slot planning, ensuring that supply is in line with demand to meet customer expectations. This role requires a strong analytical and customer-focused mindset, a passion for process improvement, and the ability to lead in a fast-paced environment. The Demand Planner will also monitor market trends, create accurate forecast models, and present demand forecasts to senior management. Proficiency in statistical analysis software and a deep understanding of supply chain processes are essential for this role.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Establish and execute a forecast and inventory strategy for Waukesha engines.
  • Experience in a configuration to order industrial environment.
  • Provide key inputs into the Waukesha Engines SIOP process, including the monthly forecast, inventory optimization, analytics, and product family reporting.
  • Manage engine slot planning to ensure that supply is in line with demand and meet customer expectations.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data to predict future demand patterns.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations teams to minimize stock shortages and overstock situations.
  • Work with Marketing to create accurate forecast models based on market trends and present demand forecasts to senior management.
  • Work with supply planning to ensure material availability/de-risk schedule.
  • Escalate issues as necessary and set priorities to ensure flawless execution of the material plan.
  • Demonstrate a strong analytical and customer-focused mindset, and a passion for process improvement.
  • Lead and manage projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain proficiency in statistical analysis software and a deep understanding of supply chain processes.
  • Establish and participate in formal SIOP process and schedule.
  • Use LEAN concepts to identify & implement process simplification opportunities to improve customer experience and/or reduce planning cycle time, forecast errors, and other non-value add work.
  • Represent Service Planning in strategic projects or IT-related changes as needed. Be expert on ERP (Oracle) and related forecasting tools (SO+99).
  • Act as back up to Planners and/or Demand Manager as needed.
  • Further tasks not involved in this Job Description that the immediate leader/manager assigns.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (preferred degree in Business, Economics, Logistics/Supply Chain or Engineering) OR high school diploma/GED with at least 5 years’ experience in supply chain/materials planning.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in direct Materials Planning OR 6+ years in related Supply Chain function (i.e, Sourcing, Logistics, Master Scheduling).
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software and other relevant IT systems.
  • Deep understanding of supply chain processes and inventory management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of Waukesha engines and the associated market trends would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and/or execute a robust inventory optimization strategy.
  • Highly proficient in ERP systems (especially Supply Chain/Materials Planning modules) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Direct experience with SIOP process and forecasting tools/methodology.
  • Strong analytical skills. Ability to translate complex data into meaningful, succinct data or actionable tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and influencing skills with a strong customer focus.
  • Demonstrated pro-active & inclusive approach to problem solving, leadership.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity, ability to work with multiple & competing priorities.
  • Self-directed, resourceful, accountable to deliver results.
  • Ability to identify & drive process improvements to improve productivity, customer experience.
  • APICS or other similar materials planning/supply chain certification.
  • Green Belt certification.
  • Skilled in at least one business intelligence/data analytics tool (Tableau, Excel Power Query and Power Pivot).
  • Experience leading/coaching a team through change while still meeting customer & business expectations.
