Role Summary/Purpose

The Plant Controller will be accountable for all financial aspects of the Welland Manufacturing Operations and is a key member of the plant management team. The Plant controller is responsible for building the financial model for the Welland plant and budgeting, forecasting, reporting, analyzing and reviewing financial performance. The plant controller ensures that measures are implemented to achieve financial targets and in case of deviations implements counter measures with the operative management. Setting financial targets and supporting the plant in continuous performance improvements is key to this role.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Analyze and organize data appropriately by anticipating the internal client’s expectations
  • Execute Factory finance responsibilities in close cooperation with Welland and Waukesha management team including
    • Budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting
    • Analyze variances and communicates explanations to management with recommended actions
    • Implementing and maintaining accurate product costing model
    • Aligning operative productivity matrix with financial targets and create transparency
    • Implement and track cost and working capital optimization programs
    • Create transparency on all factory spend categories like Tools, Supplies, Maintenance, Scrap, Rework, Purchased Services and implement optimization programs
  • Ensure Integration of all Welland finance activities with the Waukesha finance and accounting team
  • Ensure planning, forecasting and reporting requirement and deadlines are met
  • Have site leadership for the Welland finance team, evaluate and coach existing team, build high performance finance team for the Welland plant
  • Work across organization boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant, country or corporate objectives
  • Provides proactive / unsolicited consultation, interpretation and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders used to drive business decisions
  • Monitor and implement plant internal controls (in conjunction with corporate policies) as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks
  • Determine and maintain all accounting principles and processes and ensure compliance to IFRS/ US GAAP regulations.


  • Bachelor or master’s degree in Finance/Business Administration or equivalent
  • Approximately 8-10 years of finance experience in a complex environment including Former plant controller of $100M to $300M parts manufacturing and assembly plant
  • Oracle experience and advanced skills in Access and Excel to build and analyze databases, create standard, automized reports
  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projection
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/ US GAAP
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex financial issues while managing multiple tasks
  • Extensive knowledge of business operations
  • Strong prior product costing experience
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
