CMM Programmer / Quality Technician - 1st Shift

The CMM Programmer will be part of Quality Operations, responsible for production readiness by developing programs to use on CMM’s for dimensional inspection of manufactured products. Use CMM’s and other Monitoring and Measuring Equipment to inspect product for dimensional conformance. Reads and interprets Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) data. They will develop an in-depth understanding of quality theories, practices, concepts and principles in all parts of the manufacturing function. They will provide technical guidance and solve problems through analysis and leveraging multiple sources of information to deliver a high-quality product to our customers while ensuring quality processes are being met.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Reads and understands blueprints, specifications, and work instructions including GD&T data on machine prints.
  • Generates and troubleshoots CMM programs and prove-out of CMM programs using Polyworks & Zeiss Calypso software.
  • Perform CMM inspections on components and analyze features to GD&T requirements.
  • Perform inspections as required using multiple measurement and monitoring equipment.
  • GD&T expert working with Manufacturing and Design Engineering to understand correct GD&T measurement techniques based on engineering requirements, machining processes, and part functionality.
  • Works with CAD models
  • Generate inspection reports and ensure all quality reports and documents are accurately maintained and the data presented is clearly communicated. 
  • Support the conformance of manufacturing processes, including but not limited to: product inspection and other quality activities including appropriate documentation and ISO compliance.
  • Support the control of non-conforming parts and the investigative and disposition process.
  • Act as a support and quality subject matter expert when developing corrective action on observed quality and production issues.
  • Requires minimal supervision to support manufacturing needs.
  • Drive continual improvement in inspection methods.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • 5 years of work experience with CMM programming and inspection. 
  • Ability to use computer programs to create inspection reports.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and how to apply those requirements to create and inspect features.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, writing and communication skills.
  • Proven history of completing documentation accurately, legibly, and timely.
  • Strives to meet or exceed job requirements. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
