Description

The INNIO Jenbacher Business Unit (JB BU) Application Engineer will play a critical role in summarizing and assessing technical parameters, assessing job specific requirements, and providing project specific technical support to the internal sales team as well as end users. The Application Engineer will also act as bridge between end users, the regional commercial team and engineering to define technical solutions and recommendations. They also provide technical support and expertise to customers, testing applications, responding to customer feedback, installations, maintenance and to participate in and perform sales presentations and demonstrations.

In this position, you will be responsible for

  • The optimization/validation of the equipment to include selection of size, configuration, options, etc. of power generation projects and equipment by reviewing the plans, specifications, original estimate and proposals
  • Evaluating possible cost savings and/or cost problems that will occur on various projects
  • Validating project scope by reviewing specifications, RFQ/RFP documents, plans and parameters, and configurations
  • Supporting sales and developing preliminary technical submittals and/or final submittals as required
  • Preparing the correct equipment specifications for order entry
  • Maintaining competitive advantage and stays abreast of industry trends
  • Optimizing expenses by outlining scope and negotiating prices with vendors for balance of the plant equipment
  • Documenting work by maintaining files and submittals for each job
  • Obtaining and validating vendor submittals
  • Holding job cost consensus meeting and submittal release and necessary changes.
  • Generating and distributing final technical submittals
  • Working with End Users to identify developing needs for new product offerings

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience in similar area
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical experience with high speed reciprocating or rotating and electrical distribution equipment in the power gen Industry
  • Ability to travel ~30%
  • IT literate (Autocad, Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Oracle)
  • Well-developed business acumen and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Strong Analytical and Interpersonal Skills
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (NFPA 37, 110; NEMA MG1; 40 CFR Part 60; Title V permitting, UL2200, IEEE 1547 & CSA code)
  • Strong presentation development and broader communication skills that turn concepts into effective structured messages for non-technical internal and external decision makers.
  • Ability to represent the company formally and informally to influence and build/maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functional groups and large organizations
  • Jenbacher Gas Engine product experience preferred
