Position Overview:
The Quality Engineer will be reporting directly to the Director of Quality and will be responsible for manufacturing quality readiness of the Welland facility. You will support quality processes within the manufacturing site and cross-functionally within the Waukesha business unit. You will develop an in-depth understanding of quality theories, practices, concepts and principles in all parts of the manufacturing function. You will provide technical guidance and solve problems through analysis and leveraging multiple sources of information to deliver a high-quality product to our customers while ensuring quality processes are being met.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Planning and execution of all Quality Assurance activities to ensure products produced comply and confirm to all regulatory, QMS and Engineering requirements.
  • Oversight and accountability of inspection planning. Timely completion of Inspection activities in accordance with plant QMS procedures.
  • Identify Inspection or MRB related production constraints and actively action to resolve those with the cross functional team.
  • Manage process quality of Machining & Assembly areas for In process & Final Inspection.
  • Manage Product Quality Plans, PFMEA & Control Plans for the product range.
  • Responsible for driving improvements for primary quality metrics related to COPQ, FTY & Test DPU.
  • Organize and lead Gauge R&R evaluations.
  • Implement and maintain SPC system and report Cpk/Ppk data on all KDF’s. Experience with Q-Das or Minitab preferrable.
  • Coordinate containment, sort/rework actions for external and internal issues.
  • Participate and coordinate problem solving activities and manufacturing concerns (8D, 5 Why, fishbone etc.)
  • Support the “Zero Defect” plan and participate in continuous improvements activities
  • Look for and analyze trends for issues
  • Analyze NCs (Non-Conformances) to ensure that trends are identified and resolved.
  • Drive (RCCA) Root Cause Corrective Actions from NCs and Field quality issues.
  • Report trends at applicable reviews
  • Create project plans to close out issues
  • Participate in the Quality Alert & containment process
  • Actively participate in all technical reviews, internal and external
  • Ensure specification compliance, manufacturability, testability, and cost
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5+ years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
  • University degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and math data including GD&T.
  • Experience in CNC Machining, Engine Assembly & Testing will be considered an asset.
  • Related work experience in a manufacturing environment (Aerospace or Automotive would be an asset).
  • ASQ "Certified Quality Engineer" certification an asset.
  • Knowledge of SPC, Six Sigma techniques, Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA and DOE.
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and analytical abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced team environment
  • Flexible to work in shifts.
