Position Overview:
The Production Planning Manager will oversee and optimize production scheduling, forecasting, and manufacturing coordination. This role will be responsible for ensuring customer commitments are met by effectively managing the planning and execution of production activities across supply chain, operations, manufacturing, and project management. This position serves as the central conduit between supply chain, operations, and manufacturing, aligning demand, materials, and production capacity to meet build schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee production planning, workflow, and scheduling to ensure alignment between demand, materials, and manufacturing capacity
- Develop and maintain production plans and schedules based on plant capacity, project requirements, and incoming demand
- Coordinate with supply chain, project managers, operations, and manufacturing teams to ensure materials and components are available to meet production timelines
- Monitor production status and progress, identifying delays, shortages, and bottlenecks and making adjustments as needed
- Ensure materials are flowing properly through the warehouse and into production, including oversight of pick ticket requirements feeding the production floor
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify risks, resolve production issues, and adjust schedules when material availability or capacity constraints arise
- Maintain ERP/MRP system accuracy to support effective demand planning and material availability
- Align production schedules with manufacturing capabilities and capacity planning, ensuring the organization can meet build requirements
- Communicate potential schedule changes or constraints to project management and leadership teams
- Drive continuous improvement efforts to improve production efficiency and reduce delays
- Perform other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing planning, production control, or supply chain planning
- Experience in manufacturing or assembly environments; industrial equipment, power generation, or similar industry
- Proven ability to manage production planning processes and coordinate across cross-functional teams
- Strong experience working with ERP/MRP systems; Oracle ERP preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly operations, and production workflows
- Ability to balance supply and demand planning, ensuring materials meet production schedules
- Knowledge of capacity planning and production scheduling principles
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills across supply chain, operations, and project management
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing timelines to support realistic planning assumptions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Adaptability and comfort working in a fast‑growing, start‑up style environment where responsibilities evolve
- Ability to work on‑site in a warehouse and shop‑floor production environment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods throughout the workday
