Production Quality Engineer Specialist – Packaging

We are seeking a detail-oriented Production Quality Engineer Specialist – Packaging to join our quality team. In this role, you will ensure incoming goods meet our quality standards, drive improvements in pack-out methods and material protection, and support supplier and internal quality processes across warehouse and distribution operations.
What you’ll do:
- Inspect Incoming Materials: Perform detailed visual inspections and basic measurements to verify that all received goods meet product specifications, drawings, packaging requirements, and quality standards.
- Document & Communicate Results: Accurately record inspection findings, maintain quality documentation, and promptly report any nonconformances.
- Material Control: Ensure proper handling, labeling, storage, and packaging condition of inspected materials to maintain product integrity and prevent damage or contamination.
- Assist Containment Activities: Assist in containment actions for inbound quality issues to protect warehouse operations and prevent nonconforming material from reaching downstream operations.
- Improve Supplier Packaging Performance: Evaluate supplier packaging deficiencies, communicate packaging specifications and compliance requirements, and support corrective actions to improve packaging performance, product protection, and damage prevention.
- Develop Work Instructions and Standards: Support the development, revision, and implementation of work instructions, packaging standards, visual requirements, and inspection criteria to improve process consistency and reduce damage across warehouse and distribution operations.
- Support Packaging Engineering Requirements: Support packaging activities related to regulatory compliance, corrosion protection, technical cleanliness, and packaging quality requirements, including ISPM-15, PPWR, ISTA, VCI systems, and contamination prevention controls.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with warehouse personnel, Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE), and the Quality team to initiate containment actions, coordinate part returns, and support supplier recovery processes.
- Support Investigations: Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities to resolve packaging and quality issues and prevent recurrence.
- Internal Auditing: Conduct routine audits of warehouse processes, material handling practices, packaging controls, and inventory processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality requirements.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Review inspection results, analyze damage trends, and use operational feedback to identify process improvement opportunities and reduce repeat nonconformances across warehouse and distribution operations while supporting timely resolution of quality issues and material flow disruptions. Drive and implement continuous improvement and “Zero Defect” initiatives.
What you’ll have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred) and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong ability to interpret technical engineering drawings and GD&T principles.
- Significant experience in engine assembly, testing, or design is an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of quality management systems, SPC, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA, and quality problem-solving tools.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or similar certification preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional teams.
- Flexible to work in shifts.
Additional Details:
- Location: Pleasant Prairie, WI
- Work Schedule: Monday through Friday onsite per week.
