We are currently looking for a Lead Manufacturing Engineer – Machining who will be responsible for implementing and validating established Jenbacher manufacturing processes from the production plant in Jenbach into the new engine production startup in Waukesha. This role supports the successful transfer, localization, and rampup of machining processes to ensure the Waukesha plant can reliably produce new Jenbacher engine components. The engineer will work closely with global Jenbacher engineering and operations teams to understand existing processes, adapt them to the Waukesha environment, and ensure production readiness.

What you’ll do:

  • Implement established Jenbacher machining processes for con-rods, cylinder-heads, crankcases into the new Waukesha production machines supported by robots

  • Be connected to the sister plant in Jenbach, try to learn from the Machining team, systems and processes there and implement at Waukesha

  • Localize global machining standards, work instructions, PFMEAs, routings, and capability requirements to fit Waukesha machine tools, fixtures, and workforce needs

  • Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of machining and automation per Jenbacher requirements

  • Conduct firstrun trials, capability studies, and process validation to confirm dimensional accuracy, repeatability, and machining performance meets global quality standards

  • Troubleshoot machining issues during rampup, including tool wear, chatter, thermal distortion, surface finish, and cycletime variation; collaborate with global machining experts to resolve complex issues

  • Coordinate with Facilities, Maintenance, and vendors to ensure fixtures, cutting tools, and gaging match established machining process expectations

  • Analyze machining workflows and recommend localized improvements in tool selection, cutting strategies, chip evacuation, ergonomics, and material flow while maintaining process intent.

  • Provide operator and maintenance training on machining processes, CNC controls, tooling management, and quality inspection techniques using transferred global documentation

  • Prepare machining process readiness reports, capability summaries, PPAPstyle documentation, and technical updates for project stakeholders

  • Communicate status, risks, equipment needs, and requirements across global and local engineering, machining, maintenance, quality, operations, and EHS teams.

What you’ll have:

  • Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field

  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in machining (CNC mills, lathes, machining centers, etc.)

  • Experience with assembly and/or machining of heavy industrial equipment.

  • Strong understanding of CNC programming, tooling selection, workholding, and machining process optimization.

  • Proficiency in CAD software with the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and schematics.

  • Experience with material flow analysis as well as reading and interpreting engineering drawings

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience working with ERP systems (ideally ORACLE) and preferably with BI reporting
